Regional Counselling and Mentoring Services
Regional Counselling and Mentoring Services Inc (RCMS) is a not-for-profit incorporated organisation based in Albany since July 2005. It provides services and programs throughout the Great Southern ranging from prisoner rehabilitation and reintegration into the community to assisting disadvantaged people with shelter, counselling, food and other practical items.
RCMS is contracted by the Department of Corrective Services (DCS) to deliver programs into the three prisons in the Great Southern including high-intensity workshops to assist prisoners’ transition back to society and reduce recidivism. RCMS then continues to work with the clients for 12 months post-release on a range of reintegration issues from accommodation to mental health.
RCMS also assists homeless and disadvantaged people providing swags, blankets, clothing and food. We also provide counselling support and referrals to other agencies. The organisation funds this service itself and relies on donations and fundraising.
Although our primary focus is the delivery of rehabilitation and reintegration services to prisoners and ex-offenders, we are increasingly offering services to the wider community. Anyone who walks through our door wanting help is assisted to the best of our ability. In doing so we find that we are assisting those that are “falling through the cracks”.
Over Christmas we delivered 20 hampers to those in need which were largely made of community donations.
We are located at 121 Aberdeen Street, opposite St Joseph’s Church. If you know of anyone in need please refer them and if you would like to pop in and say hello you are always welcome.
All donations over $2.00 are tax deductible.
