Carryn Hills is a Partner at Lincolns, working predominantly with business owners and farming families across business advisory, succession and complex tax and structuring matters.

She particularly enjoys the work where there isn't an obvious answer. Often these decisions sit somewhere between the numbers, the commercial realities of a business and the people involved — particularly in family businesses, where different generations can have very different ideas about what the future should look like.

Naturally curious, Carryn asks a lot of questions. She likes understanding how all the pieces fit together and is often more interested in finding the real issue than simply answering the question initially put in front of her. What starts as a tax or structuring question can sometimes turn out to be a much broader conversation about the business, the family or what someone actually wants to achieve.

Her approach is practical and direct. Carryn is comfortable challenging assumptions and having conversations that aren't always easy, while recognising that the technically perfect answer isn't necessarily the most sensible one. Her focus is on taking something that feels complicated, making it understandable and helping clients work out a way forward that actually works for them.

Having worked closely with regional businesses and farming families throughout her career, Carryn particularly values the long-term relationships that come with advisory work. She enjoys knowing the broader story behind a business rather than looking at individual decisions in isolation, and being part of the conversations that shape what happens next.

Outside of work, Carryn spends plenty of weekends supporting her son Alex at soccer and motorsport events, where he competes in the WA Excel Cup. She is an enthusiastic audiobook listener and usually has a gardening, renovation or creative project underway — often several at once, with varying degrees of ambition and completion.
